This is a collaborative design project with Nancy Hu, we came up with the wireframes and solutions together and my main contribution is creating the UI kit for this app prototype and designing the motion in order to create a more engaging experience for the user.
Problem and opportunity
- An interdisciplinary project has two areas of design practice, infographic, and user interface design. This product specialized in serving college students.
Design solution
- We created this money management app, call Xpand, which helps college students to track, analyze and manage their assets in a novel way, while communicating and providing financial advice to motivate them to achieve their financial goals.
Project Goal
- Our goal is to create a money management app that has a distinct and more effective way of recording income and expenses. The project focuses on designing two fundamental pieces of a financial application, that are budgeting the present and forecasting the future. We aim to design an app enables user to forecast the future to better budget their present.
- The assignment provided a persona. It includes the who are the user, his needs and concerns and his financial data.
This is a website UI redesign project with PSFK. My main goal for this project is to make it look more simplified and modern, I’ve designed both the desktop version and mobile version for the final development. PSFK offers a business intelligence platform to help brands, retailers and their partners identify and leverage innovation opportunities through a mix of trends reports, immersive events, insight-rich newsletter, custom services, and on-demand research.
Project Goal
- To make the website look more modern, I created a UI kit for the new PSFK website to look consistent, and I went for a more minimalistic style and limited the color with only PSFK purple and green button for call to action color.
- With these new layouts, users can view the search page in a list or grid format, that allows members of PSFK can find reports, podcast or articles much easier and faster.
BLACKOUT 2003 is a large scale infographic project that curates the world's second most widespread power outage in history on a 32’x20’ poster. My biggest contribution to this infographic poster is content writing and figured out how to simplified my words to better summaries this event.
Progress
- We started off reading “Final Report from U.S.-Canada Power System Outage Task Force” to gain a big picture of this event and sort important information and drafted the initial layout on a whiteboard. Afterward, we worked on content writing and refined the content with a professional writer, map illustration, icon design, and visual narrative separately.
Project Goal
- Since there are a lot of complex information about this event, we want to create a strong series of infographics, that can educate audiences the general power knowledge; Disclose the causes and impact by walking them through engaging and thoughtfully designed comprehensible infographics.
